Send off a first generation college student with the essentials!

Update posted 5 years ago

CapCAN is collaborating with the Capital Area United Way, to initiate Student Super Paks, care packages of essential items for incoming college freshmen to start their post high school adventure!
We have 4 types of Student Super Paks:
 -Let’s Study Paks
 -Wash ‘Em, Dry ‘Em Paks
 -Get Well! Paks
 -Going on a Journey Paks

At CapCAN we believe all students are college possible!

Many of our students, particularly in rural school districts, do not have the vision or the resources to find the right match and fit in a university.  Many of our students have never traveled outside of mid-Michigan.

The idea for a UP College Tour started three years ago when one of our college advisers who had never been to the UP asked if we would pay for them to visit.   This year we have received commitments from the admissions representatives from Michigan Tech, Northern, Finlandia, and Lake Superior State Universities to cover the cost of our overnight stays and five meals.

We will be traveling in mid-June for 4 days.

We have received a commitment from Dean Transportation to underwrite 50% of the charter bus transportation.  We are halfway to our dream of making this trip a reality.

We are seeking $4,500 to assist us in underwriting the cost of the bus and some meals for our trip.

For $25 you can help provide snacks and a T-shirt for one student.

For $150 you can underwrite one student's travel.

For $250 you can help provide lunch when we stop and visit the Mackinac Bridge at the MDOT visitors center.

For $500 you can help provide dinner when we reach Marquette.

With your financial support, 30 students who have a strong interest in attending college can experience the campuses, majors, and outdoor treasures that the UP has to offer.

Thank you for your generous support!
