My Walter--the most special dog I have ever known--a senior rescue, the best decision I ever made, crossed over to being an angel on Feb 22. As many know I have already decided to run the marathon to help senior rescues but now it is even more special because I will be doing it to honor Walter and in his memory. I barely have strength right now to face the day but I feel his presence pushing me to do this for him and all the seniors like him. He is the most special dog I've ever know and taught me what a gift senior rescues are. Now it's our chance to help teach others so more will be saved and can love (which they are experts at) and can be loved. It is a beautiful love all should be blessed with. I've decided to run the LA Marathon on March 24, 2019 to raise awareness and funds for St Martin's Animal Rescue--which focuses on rescuing the most passed over homeless dogs--special needs and senior rescues--dogs who have likely spent their lives loving families only to be discarded and surrendered to cold, frightening kill shelters, alone, afraid and confused in their most difficult, uncomfortable golden years, treated like trash versus a cherished member of their family as they deserve. Time and again, I have seen St Martin's Animal Rescue step up to make sure these loving dogs do not die alone and afraid, mostly at times when they have no idea how they will pay for the medical care and needs these dogs likely will need. There's no cause that means more to me, and deserves our support.

Susan Licari who runs St Martin's is my hero. It is rewarding but emotionally taxing and grueling work to run a special needs and senior rescue, extremely time consuming and draining, but I see her persevere for these sweet little angels. Often the dogs only have a little bit of time left but she gives them the love, comfort, support and dignity they deserve. I cannot begin to thank her for being there on the frontlines for so many senior and special needs dogs in need. She takes care of so many and I want her to know she is supported and won't have to beg for money to save these needy angels, and to be able to save many more! This is why I am running the LA Marathon--26.4 miles to educate and fundraise about the need to adopt dogs. I will have on clothes that have quotes about saving dogs and compassion, so I can not only raise funds, but also promote rescue. If you love dogs, which so many do, please don't turn a blind eye and deaf ear to their suffering and please support me so I can support them at their neediest hours. It is so hard to think of dogs suffering but I always remind myself it is much harder for them to suffer. Please help me end the suffering of so many and promote adoption and rescue. Thank you in advance for your strong consideration and support!

Sweet Marigold above is an example of one of the countless dogs Susan has saved.  Sweet Marigold, at 12 years old, was surrendered to a kill shelter blind with cataracts and rotten teeth--alone, cold, confused and afraid! Thanks to Susan, Marigold now has a loving forever home where she can spend her golden years--comfortable and loved and knowing she matters. Please help me help dogs like Marigold! Every year over 2 million adoptable homeless are needlessly euthanized, please help save as many of them as we can and demystify the idea that homeless dogs from shelters or rescues are somehow less worthy than bred dogs or pet store dogs--nothing could be further from the truth and we need to educate the public to save these dogs! They deserve it!

If we all do a little bit, together we can save so many and make the world a better place for us all! To donate please click here: SAVE DOGS. No amount is too small and all donations encourage others to donate! If you can do a little bit, together we can change the world for good! Thank you!
