Chad Wiggins

Transplant Type: Heart

Chad Wiggins is fighting for his life. In 2006, he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure (CHF). His diagnosis came as a shock, as there is no family history of heart disease. In 2011, he underwent surgery to have a defibrillator implanted. Over the years, his heart condition has worsened and Chad is now in need of a heart transplant. In 2018, he received a left ventricular assist device (LVAD) or “artificial heart” which helps his heart pump while he waits for a donor heart to become available.

During this difficult time, Chad is grateful for the love and support of his wife, Lucille, and their family and friends. He has five children and three grandchildren, and his illness prevents him from being the active husband, father, and grandfather he longs to be. Chad looks forward to receiving a transplant that will give him back his energy and improve his quality of life. He used to enjoy taking his grandchildren to the waterpark, spending time with his family, and working, but his declining health prevents him from doing most of those things now. Chad wants nothing more than to be healthy so he can enjoy more time with his family, take part in water activities again, and return to work. But right now he needs your help.

The average heart transplant costs more than $1 million, and that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, he still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself. Chad’s declining health forced him to stop working, further adding to his financial burdens.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Chad. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the NFT Texas Transplant Fund, 3249 W. Sarazens Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Chad Wiggins” on the memo line.

Thank you for your generosity!
