Poor Duke got loose on a transport and spent a week running large. Unfortunately, we got the call that Duke had been found - hit by a car on the side of the road. Thankfully, he was still alive so he was rushed to the emergency vet. X-rays revealed that his leg is decimated and will need to be amputated. The emergency clinic that was overnight kept Duke stabilized on pain meds, antibiotics, and a leg wrap. The bill for that was $770.
The following day, he was rushed to one of our vey partners to perform the leg amputation. The amputation, which was performed a day later, cost $600 for procedure and medicine.
It's a miracle this little guy survived - he's only 12 pounds!! Despite his pain, the vet said he was such a sweet boy- she said he had every reason to bite her or be cautious due to his injuries- but instead he let her do everything she needed and was a very very thankful boy.
