About 40 years after the arrival of the first rescued baby chimp at Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage in Zambia, the adequate care and support of the now more than 150 chimpanzees, the taking in of more chimpanzees, as well as the operation of the sanctuary, represent an immense financial challenge. Chimfunshi e.V. in Germany is committed to the protection of endangered chimpanzees and supports the Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage in Zambia with all forces.

SUPPORT ESSENTIAL HEALTH CARE & VACCINATIONS
At Chimfunshi, it is essential that all primates arriving and residing there undergo mandatory physical examinations, receive appropriate treatments, and vaccinations. This is crucial to safeguard the well-being of both the animals and the personnel from potential infections and serious diseases.
However, providing these important services for over 150 chimpanzees comes at a significant cost, particularly considering the extensive testing required to ensure the animals' health and stability. Moreover, certain materials, especially those related to anesthesia, are challenging to procure within Zambia and must be imported from abroad, resulting in substantial expenses.
The yearly budget for all health checks at all chimpanzees is $22,500 USD.

HELP FEEDING THE CHIMPS DURING THESE CHALLENGING TIMES
Providing an adequate food supply for all the chimpanzees at Chimfunshi presents a considerable challenge, especially when aiming for a vitamin-rich and balanced diet.
On average, one chimpanzee consumes between 3kg to 6kg of food per day, with the quantity varying based on age, sex, and health.
To ensure the residents' health and overall well-being, Chimfunshi requires a monthly purchase of aprox. 16,000 kg of fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins and nutrients - to the benefit of local farmers, who sell their crops to the sanctuary.
In one month, Chimfunshi spends about $6,800 USD just on the chimps' supplementary food.

Chimfunshi e.V. sammelt die Spenden gemeinsam mit Mightycause, da sie die organisatorische Verantwortung für den Giving Day for Apes tragen. Mightycause leitet die Spenden direkt an Chimfunshi in Sambia weiter.
Mightycause behält von jeder Spende einen kleinen Prozentsatz ein und entlastet uns im Gegenzug von allen Einrichtungskosten und Gebühren für die Technologienutzung.
Spender haben während des Zahlungsvorgangs die Möglichkeit zu entscheiden, ob sie ihren Spendenbetrag um die Bearbeitungsgebühr aufstocken möchten oder diese vom gewählten Spendenbetrag abgezogen werden soll.
