Chris Wolfe

Transplant Type:   Liver

What if you were living on borrowed time?

Chris Wolfe is fighting for his life.  He was diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver in 2016. Chris and his doctors were able to manage his illness until the end of 2020, when he developed varices that bled and caused multiple hospital visits.   Chris was put on new medication at the beginning of 2021, and he responded to them very well. Unfortunately, this all changed.  He was admitted to the hospital on September 7, 2021, with a varices hemorrhage that almost took his life.

Doctors believe that Chris had developed an infection that wreaked havoc on his liver.   Now, he suffers from ascites, extreme fatigue from low hemoglobin and platelets, muscle wasting, hepatic encephalopathy, and swelling. Now doctors say a liver transplant is critical to his survival.

While this has been a very difficult time for Chris, his wife, Charity, their three children, family, and friends, it has also brought them closer together, strengthened their trust in each other, and given them perspective on what matters most in life. Before his health began to decline, Chris enjoyed being active, playing golf, and spending time with his family and friends, but these days, his activities are quite limited. Chris looks forward to the transplant that will allow him to live his life with as few limitations as possible. More than anything, he wants the opportunity to feel normal again, return to work, and spend many more years with his loved ones, but right now, he needs your help.

Unfortunately, Chris’ hope for a new life comes at a very high price.

The average liver transplant costs approximately $878,000. And that is only the beginning. Even with health insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant cost, he faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they are as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to the National Foundation for Transplants in honor of Chris.

If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the National Foundation for Transplants, 3249 W. Sarazen’s Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125.  Please be sure to write "in honor of Chris Wolfe” in the memo line.

Thank you for your generosity!
