Cindy Mirasol is awaiting a new lease on life. She is a registered nurse, and in 2014 she was given a flu shot that was required for healthcare workers. Unfortunately, the shot damaged her kidneys. She is now on dialysis, which takes a toll on her quality of life and leaves her tired. Doctors say a kidney and pancreas transplant is critical.

During this difficult time, Cindy is thankful for the love and support of her family and friends. Her loved ones help care for her, and they worry about her health. Cindy looks forward to receiving a transplant that will give her back her energy and free her from dialysis. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and her two dogs, but her illness sometimes limits her activities. Cindy wants nothing more than to be healthy and live her life to the fullest. But right now, she needs your help.

The average kidney and pancreas transplant costs more than $618,000. And that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, Cindy still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of her life, she will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to her survival as the transplant itself.

When Cindy receives her transplant, she will have to stay near the transplant center as she recovers, incurring substantial expenses for travel, food, and lodging. She will have to take time away from work during recovery, further adding to her financial burdens.
