Claudia Hill

Transplant Type: Double Lung

Claudia Hill is awaiting a new lease on life. She was diagnosed with sarcoidosis, pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary fibrosis, and heart failure. Over time, her condition has worsened, and she now relies on supplemental oxygen 24/7 to help her breathe. Doctors say a double-lung transplant is critical.

During this difficult time, Claudia is thankful for the love and support of her husband, George, and their family and friends. She has twin 14-year-old boys, and her illness prevents her from being the active wife and mother she longs to be. Claudia looks forward to receiving a transplant that will allow her to breathe freely and free her from supplemental oxygen. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and traveling, and she has a passion for decorating and writing. She used to be a singer, but is no longer able to do so because of her lung capacity.

Claudia’s illness forced her to leave her career in 2013, and she misses the days of being a professional, traveling for business, negotiating contracts, and interacting with her work peers. She wants nothing more than to be healthy so she can take care of her family, sing again, travel to all the places on her “after lung transplant” list, and return to work. Claudia is determined and always has a positive attitude.  But right now, she needs your help.

The average double-lung transplant costs more than $1 million, and that’s only the beginning. Even with health insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, she faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of her life, she will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to her survival as the transplant itself.

Claudia lives 88 miles from her transplant center, and traveling for appointments is expensive. When she receives her transplant, she will be required to stay near the transplant facility while she recovers, incurring substantial expenses for travel, food, and lodging. Claudia’s inability to work further adds to her financial burdens.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Claudia. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the NFT California Transplant Fund, 3249 W. Sarazens Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Claudia Hill” on the memo line.

Thank you for your generosity!
