Ballard P-Patch invites all supporters to join in on our first Community Rally on Sunday, September 22nd from 11am – 1pm at Bergen Place Park  (located at 22nd Ave NW and Market Street in Ballard).

Hold a sign, chant a cheer, elicit a honk from a passing supporter and help energize the community and  garner support to Save Ballard P-Patch!   With over 100+ supporters expected this will be a major event for all allies, supporters and gardeners to attend to show their public support.

The Ballard P-Patch is urgently raising awareness of the value of their community garden. They are in the midst of a $1.8 million campaign to purchase the half-acre of land at 8527 25th Ave NW; Seattle WA  98117.   The site’s landowner has leased the space for $1 a year for 40 years to the Ballard P-Patch but has decided to sell the property, which is zoned in a residential area.  If not preserved as a garden, the site would be developed into four single-family homes.

This Community Rally is an opportunity to celebrate the garden, energize supporters, gather petition signatures, raise awareness, distribute yard signs and garner more public support.  All supporters are encouraged to attend this important event!

Ballard P-Patch contributes to a feeling of community, harvests thousands of pounds of crops for the Ballard Food Bank and also acts as an emergency hub for the neighborhood.   The grassroots groups is reaching out to leaders in the business and civic communities at city and county levels, exploring options for grants and public funding and pooling their contact lists for potential private philanthropists.   All supporters are invited to our first Community Rally.
