YOLO FOOD BANK AND HOLIDAY MEAL KIT INFORMATION

COVID-19 danger is rising again in Yolo County and URGENT food assistance is needed!  Thousands of compassionate donors and funders stepped up when the disaster first befell our community 18 months ago, and many have remained generous.  We are grateful!  Yet, the need for nutrition continues sky-high, outstripping the pace of the resources. In response to the increased need, Yolo Food Bank has launched a $1.5 million initiative to ensure the health and wellbeing of ALL Yolo County residents in the final months of 2021.

Why is your support for our most vulnerable neighbors so urgent through the end of the year?
- Demand tripled in 2020 and has not diminished
- Yolo Food Bank relies primarily upon private donors – like YOU – to cover the $500,000 required monthly to ensure this elevated service
- Pre-pandemic inequities in the food system and continued public health disruption are intensifying and exacerbating nutritional needs in Yolo County again in this season

More than 60,000 Yolo County residents already rely upon Yolo Food Bank each month for some or all of their daily nourishment.  Tens of thousands more struggle to meet their basic needs –
children, seniors, farm workers, homeless, students, and more.  Please don't let them down at this time of continued crisis!  Your assistance ensures every family in Yolo County can participate in the holidays this especially difficult year.

FUND-A-NEED THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

$12 = 12 Days of Christmas Food

$20.21 = Healthy Hope for the New Year for Two

$30 = 3 Meals a Day from Thanksgiving to Christmas for a Struggling Resident

$50 = Fund a Thanksgiving Meal Kit & assist with the $60,000 funding gap

$120 = 3 Meals a Day from Thanksgiving to Christmas for a Working Family of Four

$150 = Grocery home deliveries for a homebound senior citizen for 2 months

THE IMPORTANCE OF FUND DRIVES VS FOOD DRIVES

Thank you, Corteva Agriscience Woodland site, for your interest to support Yolo Food Bank during these challenging times that we are all experiencing. The pandemic has few silver linings, but one of them is the opportunity to speak with the community more frankly about food drives. Not only are they incongruent with COVID-19 safety protocols, they are not the most effective way to ensure food access for the rising numbers of Yolo County residents facing food insecurity.

Fund drives, however, provide resources more cost-effectively and less labor-intensively. Every $1 donated becomes $5.50 in wholesale food value at Yolo Food Bank, and provides us with the flexibility to source healthy FRESH foods. No canned food purchased at retail price at the grocery store, or hiding in the back of a well-intended donor's kitchen cabinet, can compare in impact; we invite you to see and share the image below with your neighbors, friends, and family.

You and your inspiring enthusiasm are the FUN in a FUNd Drive that can change lives and save lives for neighbors in need in Yolo County during this unprecedented holiday season!
