In January 2012, Creative Care was awarded funding through the National Endowment for the Arts for the Arts for All Kids program at All Children’s Hospital. Professional visual, dance, music, and literary artists are a full-time presence in the hospital and provide individual and group art experiences to pediatric patients, their families and hospital staff.
The arts have a vital role to play with children. Children have unique emotional and developmental needs that can be supported by weaving creative expression into the healing environment. Artistic expression is a developmentally appropriate means of communication for children as it allows them to express thoughts and experiences in a non-threatening way. Creative Care's aim is to impact the culture of the clinical setting through a consistent schedule of Creative Care artists rotating through patient care areas up to 40 hours per week. However, in order for this program to continue for the grant period we are looking for match-funding equaling $40,000. Creative Care is helping transform healthcare and positively influencing the lives of children. We need your help to continue this important work.
