The Academy for Restorative Education seeks to reinvigorate young minds. Our mission is to aid in the development and support of specific, proven and meaningful educational models to close the academic and economic achievement gaps in our country. We believe that effective and targeted education as a remedy for under-resourced children and their families can transform entire communities and be a bridge to economic opportunities previously out of reach. Broadening the menu of strategies to help all students achieve excellence, especially among underperforming African-American children, is crucial in helping students achieve their full potential. We are currently awaiting our 501c3 non-profit status and have the Oakland Ed Fund as our fiscal sponsor in the meantime. Our flagship school, SILE (School of Innovation, Leadership and Efficacy) pronounced See-Lay hold as its mission to provide comprehensive, respectful and community based learning with a focus on best practices and efficacy. We honor the diverse cultures and experiences within the African American community and throughout the diaspora.
Our small team is made up of educators, parents and community members determined to improve academic outcomes in the African American community. Our vision is to secure funding through various avenues to build a multi-acre, green, spacious campus with state of the art academic spaces for our deserving students. In the meantime, we are planning to start more modestly in a smaller, temporary urban space. We have spent the past 2 years organizing, planning, recruiting, engaging the community, and providing free STEAM days (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math). This fundraiser will help to fund our up coming COVID support offerings for local families.
