Help Deployed Military Keep Their Pets Safe

When my nephew Cody went on cruise for the first time as a Naval pilot, he didn't know how long he would be away from his best friend, a Chocolate Lab named Atisa. Thankfully, he has amazing parents who were delighted to care for their grandpup for 9 months at their home across the country. But not every service member has family or friends who are able to make such a serious commitment, and too often these military heroes are forced to surrender their best friends to a shelter where their fate is unknown. 

No service member should have to surrender their pets simply because they've been asked to do their job, keeping the rest of us safe.

Cody's last night with Atisa was heartbreaking. But their reunion was AMAZING! 

Join me in supporting Dogs on Deployment (DOD), a 501c3 dedicated to ensuring that when military members, veterans, and first responders answer our country's call to serve, they don't have to worry about the safety and well-being of their pets during a long absence or international move.  

Dogs on Deployment was founded in 2011 by a military family in San Diego County who experienced this struggle firsthand. Today, the organization provides a nationwide support network that helps active-duty military members, veterans, and first responders keep their pets safe during times of service and transition. 

Through volunteer foster homes, emergency boarding assistance, veterinary support, and relocation grants, Dogs on Deployment gives peace of mind to the people who sacrifice so much for our country. Their programs have already delivered more than $977,000 in direct and in-kind support to military families, helping over 1,500 families stay together with their pets. 

For many military families, pets are more than companions — they are emotional anchors during stressful deployments and constant relocations. Dogs on Deployment exists so no service member has to choose between serving their country and keeping their best friend. 

I’m proud to support this mission and help raise funds for an organization making a real difference in the lives of military families (including my own!) and the pets who love them unconditionally. Every donation helps provide safe care, emergency assistance, and hope to families navigating the challenges of military service.
