Music and Memory is all about bringing joy into the lives of people suffering from Alzheimer's disease, other forms of dementia and a range of cognitive and physical impairments.

Studies have proven that the last part of memory to be lost is music memory.  Providing residents who have lost the capacity to converse and to recall the past, with the music they loved in their younger years, triggers long lost memories.  Residents who spend their days sleeping in a wheelchair will suddenly begin to sing with the music and will continue to converse once the music is turned off.  Residents who are often agitated will be soothed by the music they used to love.  

I chose this project because I am passionate about music and want others to find happiness and comfort through music.  I hope you will join me in this effort.
