COVID 19 Update

Update posted 5 years ago

As you might expect, National Rebuilding Day has been postponed until later in the year due to the COVID 19 situation.  A new event date will be set once the situation is under control.  Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago, and I are committed to helping Ms. Rogers once the program resumes.  Therefore, I have extended my fundraising timeline by several months.

Working with Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago I will be helping an elderly and disadvantaged homeowner with some much needed repairs to their home. The funds raised will be used to purchase materials needed for the repair work. On April 25 (National Rebuilding Day), I will mobilize an all volunteer team of skilled, and un-skilled volunteers and accomplish the home repair and improvement tasks, all in one day.

This year, my homeowner is Ms. Rogers a very lively, 80 year old widow.  When she suffered a stroke in July, her lovely daughter moved back into the home to take care of her.  They really need help to maintain their home and help keep them warm, safe and dry.

The work to be performed includes:

  • Replace locksets on front and back doors
  • Install front porch light and door bell
  • Install tub surround, grab bars, and hand held shower
  • Repair/replace handrails on front porch and stairs to basement
  • Replace back porch stairs
  • Replace water heater
  • Repair the electrical panel
  • Repair dryer vent
  • Painting in 5 rooms
  • Patch walls in bathroom
  • Replace floor tile in kitchen and hallway
  • Add knobs to kitchen cabinets
  • Yard cleanup and landscaping
