A walk/run “race” down River Road in the Hilltowns to support It Takes a Village

Hi, My name is Deb Schnappauf and for the past two years I have been a Home Visit Volunteer and Board Member for It Takes a Village, which is a small non-profit here in the Hilltowns.

It Takes a Village supports families with young children through a Home Visit Program, parent groups, educational forums and the distribution of children’s clothing, diapers, car seats, and much more through the Village Closet.

In the late Fall of 2019, as It Takes a Village was brainstorming fundraising possibilities, I thought that we could field a team of runners/walkers to enter a local race to raise funds. Now, in early spring 2020, the world looks quite a bit different. No running team for us!

SO…I decided that I would have my own walk/run “race” down River Road in the Hilltowns of Worthington, Middlefield and Chester. I live in Middlefield so this is truly my village. I plan to run/walk the 12.5 miles of River Road on May 1, from, approximately, 10am-2pm.

Finally, this isn’t an easy time to ask for money, but I am going to ask because right now the work It Takes a Village and other non-profits are doing is so vital to the strength and sustainability of our communities. I hope you will consider sponsoring my “run” at any amount you can offer.

Good News: An anonymous donor has stepped forward to match all my fundraising up to $500.00. That’s 50 donors at $10.00 apiece. We can do this!.
