Sustain the Bail Fund: Summer 2025

The Decarcerate Western Mass Bailout Project is an all-volunteer community bail fund that has been freeing people held pretrial in the Hampshire and Franklin County Jails since 2021. We rely on donations to make this work possible.

We post up to $1,500 in bail so that people who have been charged with—but not convicted of—a crime can fight their case from within the community, avoiding the numerous harms that can come with being jailed while awaiting trial. Our Summer 2025 fundraising goal—$20,000—will allow Decarcerate to bail 20 to 25 people out of pretrial detention—and we need your support to reach it!

And, once bail is returned to us after someone’s court hearing, we can use the same funds to free even more people.
