Development Council - Give Day 2018

Bay Area Legal Services helps the most  vulnerable members of our community, and as a member of Bay Area Legal Services' Development Council, I am committed to ensuring that more members of the community receive the legal help they need each year. 

One of our biggest initiatives has been to assist our nation's veterans. Florida has the third largest population of veterans in the nation and our five county service area is home to nearly 315,000 veterans. Of these, 22,367 are at or below the federal poverty line, making legal services out of reach.

As  a member of the BALS Development Council, I believe it is imperative that our veterans get access to the justice that they served our country for. I am asking you today to join  us in fighting for equal justice for all by donating a minimum of $5 to  this cause I so deeply believe in.

A side note: We are competing  against Bay Area's Board of Directors for the most funds raised. They beat us last year, so help us pull through with a win this year! Thanks for your support!!

HERE'S WHAT YOUR GIVE DAY 2017 DONATIONS ACCOMPLISHED:

• Tim, a homeless veteran living in a rehabilitation facility, was able to expedite his pension benefit paperwork. Tim now has stable housing and calls it his “miracle case.”
• Liam, a disabled veteran, was able to appeal a denial for FEMA assistance after damage from hurricane Irma demolished his roof and AC unit. The unlivable living conditions have since been fixed.
• John, a disabled veteran, evaded consumer fraud when a hired contractor refused to finish a home repair.  After obtaining counsel the contractor agreed to complete the contracted ­work.
