Did you know that less than 1% of trafficking victims ever escape?
Recovering from sex trafficking is like climbing a mountain, running a marathon, or swimming the English Channel. Basically, it is HARD and it looks different for everyone. I am moving to support the women of Amirah and to show them and others that they are not alone.
I have been volunteering at Amirah for over 4 years now and have met some truly awe-inspiring individuals. During my time at Amirah, I have:
- provided them with their medication
- taken them to appointments
- gone on walks
- taught them self-defense
- cried, laughed, loved...
My move will be to take 15 cycling classes during the week between June 16th-June 25th. I am choosing this move because it represents the "climb" victims of sex trafficking must overcome to reach their renewed life of recovery.
The primary reason that only 1% escape is a severe lack of “exit ramps” – opportunities for the exploited to get away from traffickers and break cycles of exploitation. Amirah is that exit ramp! When you support Amirah, you support a woman’s recovery process to regain her life. Soon, that 1% will be a tragic figure from a distant past.
If you are able, please support my move by giving $10, $50, $500 or more (or anything in between)! Your donation helps these women build a better life. We think they deserve it, don't you?
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for donating to my Move and supporting survivors of sex trafficking!
Human trafficking is an enormous issue that cannot be faced alone. When many people step up and make a move to support survivors, we find strength in numbers.
So, let’s get moving!
