Dozer's story is heartbreaking. He has spent the last 7 years with a family but for unknown reasons they have dumped him at a rural VA shelter. Did they get a new puppy and didn't have time for him anymore? Or maybe they were moving and didn't want the trouble of taking their dog with them. We may never know why this sweet boy has ended up homeless. Despite all his hardships, Dozer still loves people and gets along great with other dogs. We know he is trying to prove that he is a good boy and that even though he is a little older, he has a lot of life and love to give. However, the days are ticking by and Dozer hasn't had any potential adopters. Even sadder is that he often thinks staff walking in the halls might be his family coming to take him home. Dozer doesn't deserve to live in a cold cage. We need to get him to a warm foster home as soon as possible.
To make matters worse, we JUST found out that this sweet boy is heartworm positive. Heartworm CAN be treated, but it is extremely expensive to treat. This often leaves dogs like Dozer left behind. We can't leave Dozer behind but we need your help so we can continue to say YES to dogs who need a little more help. Please sponsor Dozer's dream of breaking out of a cage and living his life the way a dog should be - with a doting family!
