It was cold and rainy. The kind of day no one wanted to be out. And yet for one dog, this was just another day in the life of the misery he had grown to know. The sheriff was called to investigate an animal neglect claim, thankfully called in by a person who saw the dog and knew that his time was nearing the end if someone couldn't step in. What they found was Duke - just a skeleton of a dog near death. He had stress marks on his hips from laying in cold, wet mud for days on end at the end of a heavy chain.

He thankfully was removed that day. And his slow painful recovery from starving could start. But in a shelter. A cold, scary, shelter which, in his condition threatened his health.

We have the chance to save him but need his vetting and transport costs covered. He has to come all the way from Tennessee. But we think he's so worth it.

The shelter says he's one of the sweetest dogs they've met. Imagine. The suffering he's endured and yet he's still willing to trust.
