Time to Spread the Word! 

We are raising money for a Service Dog for Zackary. Our family has gone back and forth about it, weighed the pros and cons, but after yesterday's escape from our 'locked' backyard- we made the final decision to start the process. Zackary NEEDS a Service Dog. 

Zackary continues to escape whenever he sees the opportunity. The Service Dog will alert others when he tries to elope and will search and rescue Zackary in the event he cannot immediately be found. 

Additionally, the Service Dog will be trained to keep Zackary from harming himself. The Dog will be company for Zackary as we also start our transition journey from our home to Zack's future home. 

A Service Dog is a working animal and will definitely take some burden off this mom's shoulders. Of course, a Service Dog comes at an enormous price with no support from insurance or government funds. It is a 2-1/2 year process and a cost of $20,000! 

The Service Dog will not be trained until funds are secured. So get ready for a steady journey of asking, begging, fund-raising, and networking to make this happen for my son!  

After funds are secured, the dog will be trained from birth for approximately 6 months on all of Zackary's specific needs. We will not even get to meet the dog until he or she is capable and ready to work with Zack. Then, Zack and I start our training to work with the dog.
