Guy Richards Walk For WM

I think it was August 2015 when I was told I had a rare, incurable form of non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma called Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia (WM for short).  How rare?  Fill up the Ohio State football stadium twice, and pick one person.  That's a WM patient.  Incurable? Today yes, but controllable and relatively speaking, non-aggressive.  I've been living with this for at least five years, and likely twice that based on some odd lab results as far back as 2011.  On August 28, 2020 there is a 5k virtual run/walk to raise money for IWMF.  This is an organization that helped me understand what WM is and strives to find a cure.  August 28 will be very important to me in another way.  It will be the day after I complete my eighth and final chemotherapy session over the last four months.  So I will walk, maybe even run a little of the 5k somewhere in sunny Medina, feeling incredibly fortunate IWMF was there for me.  I hope you will consider donating to this great organization (check it out on IWMF.com and CharityNavigator.org).

The IWMF is dedicated to supporting and educating everyone affected by Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia (WM) while advancing the search for a cure. Help us raise awareness and support for Waldenstrom’s macroglobulinemia by donating to the Walk for Waldenstrom’s. All donations will support WM patients and caregivers and bring us closer to a World without WM.

Funds raised during the Walk for Waldenstrom's will directly support the mission of the IWMF. For every $800 raised, the IWMF will provide a WM community member with a full scholarship to a future IWMF Educational Forum. For every $2,000 raised, the IWMF will provide a WM community member with a full scholarship to a future IWMF Educational Forum, and a travel voucher to help get them there.
