Hi Friends & Family,
Congratulations to J-Sei for more than 50 years of service to the Nikkei Senior Community in the East Bay! May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and I am participating in the Give in May campaign.
This is my fifth year participating in this campaign, and I am honored to be amongst an inspiring group of people who care about this wonderful organization. J-Sei provides seniors nutritional Japanese lunches, including a variety of services rich in culture, art, education, health and many available resources. Our fundraising team goal for this year is $55,000. And there are 6 anonymous donors ready to match that amount, which in total would cover more than 10% of J-SEI’s annual operating budget.
Many seniors are homebound with minimal social contact. The lunches that J-Sei provides to these seniors are essential as many rely on these meals every week. Tad, Judy’s dad, who recently passed in October at 102, enjoyed these delicious homestyle meals delivered to his home, as well as Bingo games via Zoom (with Judy’s help 😊). Judy just recently started volunteering in the kitchen again. Time and Desire… just trying to make a difference in the world around us.
We are fortunate to have access to so many programs that J-Sei has to offer. In addition to the nutrition program, they offer bi-lingual case management, a caregiver registry, friendly visitor calls, a wide range of classes, special events and maintains a residential home. Please check out the website (www.J-SEI.org) and consider any of the resources for you & your loved ones.
Please consider a donation of any amount to support a valuable cause which is dear to my heart. If you are able to make a donation, please click on the DONATE button above.
With gratitude & appreciation,
Jaime Fukumae
