On our recent trip to Morocco, Laura and I had the pleasure of traveling with our partners from A&K and were introduced to their newest A&K Philanthropy certified charity – Association El Amane. The Association El Amane (AEDF) is a non- profit association created in 2003 by a group of young women and is located in the district of Sidi Youssef Ben Ali, one of the poorest areas of Marrakech, and its overall objective is to promote the women rights and fight violence against women. The word “El Amane” means "safety" and they do incredible work with their social workers, counselors and career support folks. Since its inception, AEDF has grown its mission to include training for the young men and women of the community, offering certification courses in: barber/hair dresser, chef assistants, and dental assistants.
The next step for this incredible charity is to clean up their rooftop and open a coffee house, which will serve the community, while generating a little income and most importantly give some of the student’s real work experience. Our commitment is to raise the resources needed to open this coffee house. Our partners A&K Philanthropy will manage the oversight of the project.
