Ella C. Gibson
Transplant Type: Heart
Ella Gibson is fighting for her life. She was diagnosed with congestive heart failure more than twenty-four years ago. Her condition has continued to worsen, and now doctors say a heart transplant is critical to her survival.
This has been an extremely challenging time for Ella, her family and friends. Before her health began to decline, Ella enjoyed being an active member of her church and spending quality time with her son and grandchildren, but these days, her activities are quite limited. She dreams of the transplant that will allow her to participate fully with her family, her church and the community. But right now, she needs your help.
The average heart transplant costs more than $1 million. And that’s only the beginning. Even with health insurance, which will cover the cost of the transplant, she still faces significant medical expenses related to the surgery. She will need a lifetime of follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. These medications are very costly, and they’re as important to her survival as the transplant itself.
When she receives her transplant, Ella and her caregiver must temporarily relocate 265 miles from their home to be near the hospital during recovery, incurring substantial expenses for travel, food and lodging.
You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Ella. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the NFT South Carolina Transplant Fund, 3249 W. Sarazens Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Ella C. Gibson" on the memo line.
