Hi all! Thanks for making your way to my fundraising page. :)
I'm Elyssa, I'm currently interning with the Arizona Justice Project, and I am raising money on behalf of the organization.
If you know me even a little bit, you probably know that I discovered innocence work when I was figuring out the right career path for me and deciding whether I wanted to succumb to the horrors of a legal education. (wink) I chose ASU Law excited at the prospect of participating in the Post-Conviction Clinic and with the Arizona Justice Project, which works closely with the Clinic.
Now, nearing the end (!) of my time in law school, I've gained practical experiences both with the Clinic and now with AJP. I have had incredible mentors and I've learned so much about how our criminal system disregards those who are more vulnerable to incarceration and excessive punishment. My interests have expanded far beyond wrongful conviction work and now into all post-conviction defense, regardless of a case's merits. Every defendant deserves fair representation in the legal system. No one deserves to spend the majority of their lives behind bars.
"Each of us is more than the worst thing we've ever done." -Bryan Stevenson
Help me to support AJP, and ensure that those who are wrongfully convicted or facing a manifest injustice receive the support they need! Your donation — no matter how small or large — will contribute to the resources necessary to make sure that more individuals are entitled to justice.
