Welcome to my fundraising page!
Thank you so much for considering to donate! Band has been such a huge and important part of my life for the past 8 years and I appreciate the support with all my heart! Please take some time and read all about my high school band experience and why we need the funds!
Marching Band
Last marching season, I got the privilege to perform a soprano saxophone solo during our marching show, ”Mixtape”. I played parts of the song “Bohemian Rhapsody” and it was such a cool opportunity! As you can see in the below picture, there is a microphone attached to the bell of my instrument. The boosters pay for microphones for soloists and the front ensemble as well as speakers and computers to control sound effects. These types of technology help make our show so much better!
To the left is a picture from one of our marching competitions at Northern Arizona University. For every competition, the boosters pay for the bus rides, UHAUL transportation, props, participation fees, water, and more! At NAU competitions they also cater a Chick-fil-a dinner for us. Yum!
Small Ensemble Support
I participate in many extra groups besides marching and concert band such as Saxophone Orchestra, District Saxophone Orchestra, Jazz Band, and Woodwind Choir. These groups are all led by our Assistant Band Director, Mr. Warner, and this fundraiser helps pay for his salary. We wouldn’t get all of these extra experiences without him.
Above is a picture of the Jazz Band performing at the Area Jazz Festival. This was our first time EVER performing and we received the highest possible rating (superior with distinction)! You can see me on the far right playing the giant baritone.
To the right is the BCHS Saxophone Orchestra performing a Christmas show at a coffee shop. We had fun putting lights on our saxophones and wearing ugly sweaters. We also competed at the Solo and Ensemble competition in February and received a rating of Excellent!
Above is the District Saxophone Orchestra where saxophone players from BCHS and all of our sister schools come together to play powerful sax tunes. We had the honor to perform at Arizona State University for the 2020 NASA (North American Saxophone Alliance) convention! We were the only high school group to perform which was a big deal. The four enormous saxophones in the front are actually bass saxophones which are super rare and expensive.
The boosters purchased one of them for our program which we are so thankful for! Fun fact: our bass saxophone was made before World War II. The boosters are always helping us buy new instruments and pay for repairs but they can’t do that without this fundraiser!
Band Camp
Every year in the last two weeks of summer we go to band camp! This is one of the most fun parts of band because a lot of fundamentals are taught here and sections have the opportunity to bond.
The first week of band camp is in town and at the school. We have fun spirit days and games organized by the boosters and leadership team. To the left is a picture from in town camp on twin day.
The second week of band camp is out of town in Prescott in the forest and cooler weather. This fundraiser helps pay for our 3 night stay at the camp which includes cabins, showers, AMAZING food, use of amenities, transportation, and UHAUL’s. To the right is a picture of me with some of my section having fun at band camp.
Concert Season
The boosters also help us pay for sheet music, competition participation fees, bus rides, and more. These all help us have a successful concert season! The concert group I play with is called Wind Ensemble (the top concert band in our program)
The concert season includes the regional band. We audition against every band player in our region for a spot in this honorable group. I’ve been fortunate enough to participate in the regional group for the past two years and last year I worked hard enough to earn first chair alto saxophone! This is the hardest seat in the band to get and I even got to perform a soprano solo at the concert.
I wouldn’t have been able to do this without the funds to pay for transportation to and from the audition and the 2 day event. I plan on auditioning again in January and auditioning for the All State band as well, which would be an even higher honor to achieve.
Thank you for taking the time to read my page! I appreciate any help so much and I hope you are able to donate!
THANK YOU :)
