Emma is done living life on the street! It was a hard life, filled with cruel or indifferent people. There was no one to hold her or pet her. No one to look out for her and keep her safe.

Four-month-old Emma was found roaming the streets of Puerto Rico with a pack of feral dogs. She was so young, rescuers thought they might be able to socialize her and give her a chance at a different life--a better life.

Feral dogs aren't so uncommon in Puerto Rico. At best, dogs are an afterthought. At worst, pests to be dealt with. Dogs in Puerto Rico face a hard life. They must fend for themselves, while avoiding the harsh cruelty of humans. They are run off, poisoned, hit by cars and left to suffer on their own. The rescues that do exist are doing all they can, but there's too much need and too little support.

Luckily for Emma, she was taken in by a rescue, and as they hoped, she has adjusted well to the indoor life! She is friendly and loving, and would make the perfect companion for someone--but not in Puerto Rico.

We don't want to risk Emma returning to the life she had before. She is too sweet to live her life on the streets! With your help, we can bring Emma to Homeward Trails to continue her socialization and eventually find that perfect forever home.
