The Georgia Conservancy believes that connecting all Georgians to our natural resources will foster environmental appreciation and create lifelong stewards and advocates.

Since 1967, the Georgia Conservancy has provided new and engaging outdoor experiences and environmental education by introducing Georgians to some of our state's most precious places - from Cloudland Canyon to Cumberland Island and all points between.

In 2021, through a partnership with the Refugee Women's Network, the Georgia Conservancy helped introduce some of Georgia's newest residents - refugee and immigrant women - to our state's natural places. The Women's Hiking Group, in its inaugural year, welcomed 30 new hikers representing 15 different home nations to experience our public lands through a series of eight hikes in metro Atlanta and north Georgia.

The first year of the Women's Hiking Group was a huge success and the Georgia Conservancy is excited to continue to reach new hikers and explore new natural places.

Whether it's hiking our local trails, exploring our state's public lands, or paddling Georgia's incredibly diverse waterways, our goal is to provide a welcoming introduction to our outdoors and to lay the foundation for positive, lifelong engagement with our natural resources.

Please consider supporting our efforts in 2023 as we expand outdoor education and stewardship opportunities for the Women's Hiking Group and engage with additional communities in Georgia that have traditionally been left out of these experiences.
