EVERY MOTHER COUNTS

In the United States, over 80% of single-parent families are led by single moms. Of that 80%, over one-third of them live in poverty and 29% receive NO child support. Understandably, single moms can feel burned out, overlooked, hopeless, and fearful for the future of their families. 

At DIGS, 75% of the families we have serviced are led by single moms. We have witnessed firsthand the weight that housing instability has had on families’ physical and mental health. Our goal is to equip these steadfast moms with the confidence to take on life’s challenges and realize that they have the ability to succeed.

We have supported moms across Chicago for more than 3 years. Many have shared that having a fully furnished home has lifted a huge weight off of their shoulders. Their kids are stable, working hard, and doing well in school. Moms have been able to shift their focus to other things such as going back to school, gaining employment, and forming new, healthy relationships. 

The stability of HOME is huge for single moms.

• A $100 Gift ⧫ Gives Mom Some Self Care. Favorite books, plush throw blankets, fluffy pillows, and scented candles.

• A $50 Gift ⧫Frames for a Family Photo Gallery Wall. Snapshots of her children and happy memories with family that put an instant smile on her face every time she walks through the front door.

At Digs with Dignity, we aspire to break the cycle of homelessness by empowering people with dignity.  As a 501(c)(3), Digs with Dignity partners with Chicago-based social service agencies to identify those in need and utilizes a warehouse of donated and refurbished furniture and home goods to outfit homes.
