I am a Waldenstroms' thriver and the SE MI support person. Please support my Walk for Waldenstrom's

$1,000 goal

On August 24, 2015, I was diagnosed with Waldenstrom's, a very rare, incurable Lymphoma. I was lost, scared, and felt extremely alone in this struggle. I reached out to the IWMF and, within 48 hours, I had spoken to another person with Waldenstrom's (the MI support group leader at the time) and had been furnished with the information that would become the foundation to battling the disease and living my best life.  In the five years since my diagnosis, so much progress has been made in treating my disease and my projected life expectancy continues to increase. As a matter of fact, most experts are starting to say that they can't even put a number on it anymore.  Thanks in great part to the IWMF and their commitment to funding research and finding a cure, the genetic mutations of the disease have been identified, the first drug received FDA approval for the treatment of Waldenstrom's (A WM researcher is studying it as a treatment for COVID-19 now too, BTW), and multiple (better) drugs are being studied.

I am now the SE Michigan support person and on August 28th, just a few days after the 5-year anniversary of my diagnosis, I will be walking to support the IWMF and to help it continue to fund research and support during these difficult times.  Please consider donating to my walk. Every little bit could make a huge difference in the lives of patients! Thank You.
