Million Meter Challenge Fundraiser:
On January 20, 2020, the Michigan State University Crew Club will hold its fourth annual Million Meter Challenge fundraiser. The goal is for the MSU Crew Club athletes collectively “row” over 1,000,000 meters (621 miles) on stationary rowing machines, and have each participant raise money to offset their costs to the 2019 Spring Training Camp and the 2019 National Championship Regatta.
The goal of the Million Meter Challenge is to directly benefit the rowers and allow the MSU Crew Club to continue to provide a rewarding and competitive program for all of our student athletes. The Crew Club is a registered Club Sport within the Michigan State University’s Department of Student Life, and is not associated with the Athletic Department; therefore, the club is principally funded through membership dues and fundraising.
Michigan State University Crew Club:
The Michigan State University Crew Club is an organization of students dedicated to being both successful athletes at the highest level of intercollegiate rowing and successful students in the academic realm. The Crew Club provides an opportunity for any student to represent themselves as the best of the Michigan State University community, both on the water and off.
The sport of rowing engenders a level of teamwork and camaraderie rarely found in other endeavors. The athletes of MSU Crew are dedicated to attain and maintain competitive excellence, while also promoting an atmosphere that encourages the growth and success of all involved; at the Michigan State Crew Club this culture is strengthened by the continued support of the program’s alumni.
The mission of the MSU CREW is to:
- Promote athletic achievement and excellence in intercollegiate rowing for both individuals and the team
- Develop leadership, discipline and teamwork through the sport of rowing, preparing athletes for lives beyond Michigan State and the Crew Club.
- Cultivate a community of rowers and alumni dedicated to ensuring the future success of the club
