I support the work of Forward Through Ferguson because they artfully tell the story of *why* racial equity matters to us all and skillfully create real opportunities for us to collectively *do* something to improve our current conditions – as individuals and as institutions.

I recently met the parent of one of my Little's classmates. She asked, "Are you MJ's mom?" When I replied in the affirmative, she shared that her student had told her about MJ and added, "Do you know what MJ's mom does for a living? She fights racism!" Until that moment, it had never occurred to me to ask my young one to share how he thought and spoke about my work.

Whenever I am asked about my "why" for supporting and engaging in the work of FTF, my children and my work are top of mind. Fighting unflinchingly for equitable access, experience and outcomes for every member of our community is my personal and professional commitment to my children and to the communities I am honored to partner with and serve alongside. FTF creates strategies and communities of practice to make measurable progress toward this vision.
