Each year we anticipate kitten season with both a sense of joy and a measure of worry. We know at some point our fosters' homes will be filled and our resources will be stretched thin. What we could not have anticipated was the impact COVID-19 would have on kitten season 2020.
Quarantine restrictions have impacted many of the shelters we partner with increasing the number of requests to take their most vulnerable — pregnant moms, nursing moms, and young orphaned kittens. Without hesitation, we said yes. So far, we have rescued over 50 kittens and the requests keep coming in.
These little ones will be in our care for many weeks before they're ready for adoption, and the food and medical costs (including spay/neuter surgeries) add up quickly. Eight of our litters are fortunate to have the mama cats with them. They're the lucky ones because mom is there to provide the food and care they need to survive. Other kittens like Crackle and Pop (shown below) have lost their moms and require around the clock bottle feeding and monitoring from our volunteers.
Please consider making a donation to help us care for them and the many more on the way. Your gifts provide the food and medical care they need to grow strong and healthy and eventually find their forever homes. Any amount is appreciated. Thank you!
About Feral Cat Program of Georgia
Our mission is simple. Saving Cats. As many as we can!
By controlling cat over-population with humane Trap-Neuter-Return and finding permanent homes for the homeless cats in our community.
We operate solely with volunteers and the financial support of people like you who share our love of cats and want to make a difference.
We don't have a shelter. Our rescues live with foster families where they receive medical care and lots of love until they are adopted. In most cases, this is the first time these little ones have had a taste of what it's like to have a real home.
By far, our largest expense is veterinary care, and your donation, however big or small, makes a huge impact. We can't thank you enough for your generosity.
Feral Cat Program of Georgia is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit, and your donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
