Libby Batzel and Ali Levesque began Beet Generation Farm armed with passion, determination and a dream of building not only a farm that could serve as a home for their family, but a thriving business based on their love for the land and their community. Though the road has often been discouraging and the work exhausting, the growth of their value-added pasta line has transformed their business, providing consistent, year-round revenue. With your donations to Kitchen Table Advisors, together we are supporting farmers and ranchers like Libby and Ali, and the movement they are in turn building where passionate individuals can build thriving farm businesses. And all of us, together, are creating a food system that can, too, thrive. 

WHAT WE DO

Kitchen Table Advisors is investing in the long-term success of farmers and ranchers like Libby Batzel and Ali Levesque.  We provide personalized, in-depth business advising to support Beet Generation in growing an economically-viable farm that nourishes the land, feeds their community and fuels their vision of becoming the amazing female farmers and leaders they set out to be. 

Beet Generation is one of 50 sustainable small farms and ranches that Kitchen Table Advisors supports. Our core advising program spans a minimum of three years to ensure that our clients can develop the skills and build the network needed to sustain their business well into the future. We work with a diverse group of farmers and ranchers - 80% of our clients are women and people of color - who are leading this sustainable food movement across Northern California. 

YOUR IMPACT

From 2013-2015, Kitchen Table Advisors tested our program model with a core group of 10 clients. Among the key highlights from our work with them is that on average, they increased their take-home income by 60%  - going from $18,000 to $30,000!  Since that pilot program, your support has helped us work with three additional cohorts of farmers and ranchers and in 2018 they purchased 111 acres of land that they will steward for generations to come; served new communities with healthy, sustainably-grown products; and accessed capital that helped their businesses thrive.
