It's no secret that pit mixes are the most common type of dog at most animal shelters across the United States, and it's no different here in Chicago. I'm on the intake team with Fetching Tails Foundation, typically spending a couple weekends a month at Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC), and I see first hand all of the pit mixes who consume their facility. They're definitely the most challenging dog for us to find fosters for, making us work our tails off harder for them than any other breed, so we can welcome them into our all-breed rescue. The sad thing is, it's not because of their personality or behaviors, it's simply more difficult because of the way they look and the stigma that follows them around.  As part of the intake team, it is my mission to have others experience the pittie love that I've had the opportunity to get to know through my rescue work with Fetching Tails Foundation.  So today I am raising funds for the rescue pitties!

I've personally fostered a handful of pit mixes and they have all been so kind, so sweet, and always with so much love to give. It's crazy to imagine hundreds of them are homeless sitting at CACC.

With the horrendous COVID-19 pandemic happening across the globe, the rescue world has seen something remarkable, the silver-lining, if you will. Hundreds of dogs leaving the shelters and joining rescue groups because so many wonderful people want and need the love of a dog right now and are signing up to foster. Fetching Tails Foundation, alongside many other rescue groups, have really stepped up during this time to pull as many dogs as we have fosters for, including some beloved pitties. So if you're a pittie lover, a dog lover, a rescue supporter, or just looking for a great cause to support so we can continue pulling dogs from animal control and placing them in foster homes, I would like to ask you to contribute to this cause however you can. Whether it's sharing this fundraiser or a donation of any amount, it all helps us care for the dogs in our rescue and enables our intake team get back to animal control to rescue dogs knowing we have the funds to rescue more!

My goal is to raise $250 for the pitties of Fetching Tails Foundation and if you can share or donate, I'd like to invite you to join us for a House Pawty on April 18th 6pm-9pm (a virtual experience supporting rescues and their dogs)!
