This #GivingTuesday, please help us support visual storytelling that is making a difference.
Your tax-deductible contributions will do that in two important ways. With your help we can:
- Turn June into a month-long celebration of photography in Washington D.C., supporting talks with some of the world's leading photographers and a series of events and exhibits for photographers and photography fans, alike.
- Give grants to promising students and early-career photographers who are doing work that matters.
While 2020 has been a year that we'd all rather put behind us, our all-volunteer team was able to accomplish a lot. Despite having to cancel our in-person festival, we were able to quickly pivot and host a series of 17 free online talks from April through June. You can watch all of them, here.
We also used the #GivingTuesday donations we raised last year to award a $2,000 grant to Alessandro Cinque to support his ongoing work exposing the toxic impact of Peru's mining industry. We also recognized Anna Boyiazis with a $500 grant for bearing witness to women and girls learning to swim in the Zanzibar Archipelago..
We are excited about the opportunity to help talented young photographers follow in Alessandro's and Anna's footsteps and make their mark in the world. Even relatively small grants can go a long way in helping emerging photographers undertake impactful projects.
With your help, we can continue supporting critical visual storytelling, while also building a vibrant photographic arts community here in Washington, D.C.
