Frederick Jones

Transplant Type: Heart/Kidney

Update: Frederick received a heart and kidney transplant on January 1, 2019!
Frederick Jones has a new lease on life. In 2015 he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure (CHF). Frederick’s kidneys have also been impacted by his disease. His illness left him very tired and took a toll on his quality of life. Doctors said a heart and kidney transplant was critical. Thankfully, on January 1, 2019, Frederick received a heart and kidney transplant!

During this difficult time, Frederick is grateful for the love and support of his wife of 20 years, Michelle, and their family and friends. He has three children and three grandchildren and his health prevents him from being the active husband, father, and grandfather he longs to be. Frederick looks forward to recovering from his transplant so he can have the energy to lead a full life and take part in the activities he once enjoyed, like playing with his grandchildren and attending sporting events. He wants nothing more than be healthy and live a long live enjoying his family.

Although Frederick has received his transplant, he still faces enormous expenses. The average heart and kidney transplant costs more than $1 million, and that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, Frederick still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.

Frederick lives nearly 200 miles from his transplant center, and has had to travel back and forth for appointments. Now that he has received his transplant, he will have to stay nearby while he recovers, incurring substantial expenses for travel, food, and lodging. Frederick had to stop working due to his declining health, further adding to his financial burdens.
