Friends of Sullivans Island Elementary School

Friends of SIES is a 501c(3) sponsored organization that raises money to provide direct financial support for faculty, equipment, and programs that would otherwise not be funded by the Charleston County School District.  Our goal is to enhance the learning experience in ways that strengthen the academic, physical, social and emotional well-being of each student at SIES.  For the 2017-18 school year, Friends has provided funding to support certified teachers in the areas of foreign language, art, music and computer technology. In addition, we have provided each teacher $200 in classroom supply funds, financial support for the wet lab touch tanks, and continuing funding for the Green Heart Gardening Project and the Silent Dismissal System.  We anticipate needing in excess of $175,000 to meet funding for the 2018-2019 school year. In addition to supporting special area teachers salaries, this year's fundraising goal of $180,000 also includes maintaining the touch tanks in the wet lab, the GreenHeart Gardening program, School Dismissal Manager, Continuing Education for our teachers and classroom supplies and improving the leveled libraries in each classroom.   We are also always looking donors to sponsor specific wish list items like additional playground improvements to improve physical play for all children who attend SIES, a weather station and a lounge area to foster cooperative learning in the 5th grade hall.
