POWER the COALITION for 2020!

During this unprecedented crisis, the Flatbush Tenant Coalition is simultaneously a life-line and a continued source of collective power for thousands of Flatbush, East Flatbush, and South Crown Heights families.  Over the last 10 years, we’ve created and supported a vast network of tenant associations in our neighborhoods, fighting for safe, decent, and affordable housing.   Our families -- some of the communities hardest hit by COVID19 and its economic fallout -- now employ this network to  connect our community to emergency resources.  At the same time, we continue to fight and win unprecedented victories for tenant rights, like our state-wide eviction moratorium until at least Oct. 1st, 2020!  

        As part of the Right to Counsel Coalition and Housing Justice for All, we recognize this unprecedented health and economic crisis as an opportunity to make real, systemic change.  With 1.5 Million families across the state no longer able to pay their rent, and many others struggling to survive, we are fighting to:

 * Cancel Rent  

*  Cancel Mortgages, and support small landlords by providing a relief fund for homeowners with tenants who can no longer pay rent

*  House the Homeless by investing in public housing, as well as long-term housing vouchers for NYers in shelters and those who are on the brink of homelessness

* Stop evictions & eviction court cases for a year after the crisis ends

*  ensure all NYers have a Right to Counsel in housing court

*  make sure housing court holds landlords accountable for housing code violations and harassment

We’re seizing 2020 to make historic change.  We need to build an even bigger and stronger army of tenant leaders to lead the fight.  And we NEED YOU to help us make it happen!  Please donate generously!
