Growing up as a trans and queer youth is rough. I remember struggling to find language to describe how I felt and looked for a community. It was not until I joined my local GSA in high school that I got to meet others who shared similar identities and found a community I longed for.
Through friends in my local GSA, I learned about the GSA Network and had the opportunity to participate in the GSA Network activist camp. I got to gain a political education. I learned about systems of oppression and how it impacts my community. It gave me the language and knowledge to name experiences I had experienced growing up; it lit a fire under me to want to learn more to educate myself and my peers! It was one of the most impactful moments of my youth.
GSA Network soon became my own political home. I was able to learn and gain a political education. I found my voice. I found friends. I found a community. I felt empowered as a queer nonbinary youth of color to do something for my community.
Many years later, as a young adult, I have been fortunate enough to shift from a youth role into a staff role within GSA Network. I am now the Gender Justice Leadership Programs (GJLP) Manager. I support the various programs under GJLP. I am thrilled to continue the work of lifting trans youth voices across the nation. I never imagined being in this role and am honored to work with such fantastic youth leaders. I believe in the work of TQ2S+ youth power! With your support, you can help me achieve my goal of getting over 20 people to donate. With your support, we can continue moving trans and queer youth toward liberation! Please share this fundraiser and donate what you can! You can donate now up until May 31st.
Thank you for your continued support and investment in trans and queer youth!
In Solidarity,
