The Siouxland Humane Society, established in 1889, is the only open admission full service shelter that cares for thousands of animals annually in the Siouxland tri-state area.  Our mission is to provide programs and services that promote the humane treatment of animals in the Siouxland area.  We take pride in finding forever homes for 100% of the thousands of adoptable pets in our care each year.  

The Shelter offers many vital programs and services to help keep people, pets – families together, particularly during this time of crisis and going forward for some time.  We believe pets are forever and a huge part of any family!  Our Pet Food/Supply Bank, Veterinary Assistance, Spay/Neuter Assistance, Emergency Sheltering, Humane Education, Cruelty/Neglect Investigation and so many more make a huge difference!

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have changed many practices and procedures to ensure the safety of our animals, employees and visitors.  While we currently remain open, we have enhanced cleaning procedures and are limiting entrance for those needing help during this time of hardship or serious same day adopters.  

We have canceled fundraising events, outreach and adoption events, and our income stream has dwindled dramatically.  While the demand for programs and services to keep people, pets – families together has skyrocketed.  This has put a financial strain on the shelter during these unprecedented times and will impact us for months to come after the pandemic ends while people and businesses get back on their feet.  

We will not stop being the voice for these amazing animals nor will we deny admission to the shelter, however our ability to provide some of the programs and services may be limited due to our financial impact.   The Siouxland Humane Society's goal is to raise $5,000 via this campaign.  I have signed up to help and my goal is to raise $250.00, anything donated during this campaign goes directly to the shelter and any amount will help.
