Update posted 4 years ago

Today is #GivingTuesday, and our 33 supporters have shown us the power of generosity. We are at 25% of our goal! Restorative justice diversion in the Athens Juvenile legal system becomes more possible with each donation.

See the video above to hear some of our collaborators and staff members speak about our work in the schools and the new program.

The Restorative Justice Diversion program is part of a larger movement to create better and more just outcomes for youth in our community, especially for low-income youth of color who are too often disproportionately represented in the school-to-prison pipeline. When youth are entangled with the legal system, they lose the opportunities to be youth - to be connected to support systems in their schools, communities, and homes.

We have all the pieces in place for this program, including plans to train our community members, a partnership with the District Attorney’s office, support from community partners, and a committed team to get this work done. The last piece involves you! We need support from our community to make this program a reality.

This Giving Tuesday and Holiday Season, will you consider giving to the Georgia Conflict Center so you can help make a tangible difference in the community?

Every young person deserves equitable tools for accountability and spaces for healing. This Restorative Justice Diversion program is an opportunity for creating accountability and healing while alleviating racial and economic disparities for future generations.
