More bad news for Gemma!
Unfortunately, Gemma just tested heartworm positive. While heartworm is treatable, it is EXTREMELY expensive to treat and now we are asking for even more help for this unique and special girl. We need your help to ensure we can continue to keep saying YES to dogs like her regardless of their heartworm status. It will cost an additional $450 to get Gemma healthy again. Please help us get her there!
Is that a Corgi? Maybe a Basset Hound? Wait, perhaps a Dachshund? No one knows for sure what Gemma is, but likely a mix of 100% cuteness! The stocky little lady might be a low rider, but weighs a surprising 45 pounds. Gemma is super friendly to people and likes to play with other dogs, so based on her size, she will be a fantastic match to all kinds of families. One problem though, Gemma has been stuck in a cold cement dog run for a while. She is overlooked day after day and no one has taken interest in adopting her. Homeward Trails really does not want her to spend any more time losing hope. The stress of being in a shelter environment can really change even the happiest of dogs, and getting them into a foster home does wonders for their temperaments and can set the course of their future. Please donate to this special dog's transportation to the DC area. Gemma may have short a short stature, but she deserves a long happy life.
