Parvo Free and Thriving!

Update posted 5 years ago

Due to generous donor support, Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation (LDCRF) was able to provide life-saving medical care to several Parvo puppies in need. We’re happy to report that many of them have fully recovered and found their loving forever homes.

Spud (now Clancy) beat the odds and is now adored by his new forever family—look how big he’s gotten!

One puppy in particular, Kong, spent over thirty days battling Parvo. He's now adopted after making a full recovery and lives with another LDCRF Alumni that was also previously exposed to Parvo as a puppy. As you can see, they're best buds.

Pepper, another Parvo puppy survivor, was recently adopted and is “living her best life” according to her new family.

Thank you for making this possible and stay tuned for more pupdates!

Many of you already know that trips to the vet aren’t exactly cheap. At the Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation (LDCRF), however, we’re dedicated to saving animals in need, regardless of their background or health conditions and associated costs.

As our organization significantly increases emergency intake in response to shelter closures brought forth by the pandemic, a growing number of animals now in our care require *immediate* medical attention, some more extensive and urgent than others. With 403 intakes in April alone, we need your help!

On this first #GivingTuesdayNow day of charitable giving, we ask that you please consider donating what you can to help us provide lifesaving medical care for the animals we rescue.

Thanks to our friends at the Lost Dog Cafe pledging to MATCH a total of $10,000 to this fundraiser, your gift today will have double its impact on the health of animals in our care.

In our most recent intake, we brought in 70 animals from a shelter in Mississippi, four of which are puppies battling parvovirus, a serious and contagious virus that affects puppies and unvaccinated adult dogs. These brave little pups are presently receiving the best possible treatment they can (which costs about $2,000 each) and doing their best to rest and recover. Lolita from WV, pictured top-left, is keeping them company in the meantime!

We also just welcomed Meridian (pictured left) into our Animal Care Center, a sweet dog from Mississippi that was sadly shot in the leg about 6 months ago. While she’s made great progress healing, she still needs help funding reconstructive surgery to alleviate pain and is currently being treated for heartworms ($600).

Your support will directly fund critical treatment for dogs like Meridian and ensure that they receive the timely medical care that they deserve and rely upon. With your help they, alongside the puppies from Mississippi, will soon be healthy, happy, and in their forever homes!

Together we can deliver health and comfort to rescue animals in need, please donate today.  Every bit truly counts!
