Gotham Roller Derby Needs Your Help

It is with deep sadness that we share that we have lost the potential space that we had tried to secure as our new home. 

But we can't be sad for too long, because we have money to raise!

While our permanent space search is on hold, we continue to want to bring excellence in the sport of roller derby to NYC. And that means continuing to fundraise in order to pay for our temporary practice and bout spaces.

As you may know, there are very few options available to us with regards to practice space. In 2023, we paid $500/hour (!) to be able to skate at LeFrak. While it's possible we will have an alternative practice space, in order to keep Gotham alive, we need to keep spreading the word that we need help.

We have exciting plans for 2024 that we can't wait to share with you, but we need your help to make it happen!

We Need Your Help To Keep Roller Derby Alive in NYC

As you all know, the repercussions of the pandemic have been vast. Gotham Roller Derby, NYC's only flat track roller derby league and founding member of the WFTDA, has faced innumerable setbacks in an attempt to rebuild. 

Because of your generous support over the past few years, we've been able to host a few mash-up games, deliver some paid programming for both adults and juniors, and even engage in some interleague play (click here to get tickets for our 2023 season!).  

If you live in NYC, you know how difficult it is to find affordable real estate (or, frankly, any real estate). Add in our very specific spacing needs and you can imagine that our space search has been very difficult. 

Because of this, we have found ourselves paying an exorbitant amount of money in order to skate. While we've made it work, it isn't easy (or sustainable!). But there's ways for you to help.
