Girls on the Run was founded in 1996 in Charlotte, NC. Our Bay Area chapter was started in 2002, and today we serve over 2,750 girls on 191 teams. We are so proud to serve girls in San Francisco, Marin, Alameda, San Mateo, and Contra Costa Counties and continue to grow thanks to the generous support from family & friends like you!
Our mission is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Our ten-week program pairs trained coaches with 3rd-8th grade girls to develop skills to help build confidence, accountability and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. The program culminates with each girl completing a celebratory 5k run. Our next 5k is May 6th at Golden Gate Park - all are welcome to volunteer! Find opportunities here: http://www.gotrbayarea.org
