Donating my Birthday to Autism!

As some of you may know, my brother (among many other individuals I have had the pleasure of knowing) is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Although his Autism is quite mild on the spectrum, I have still seen how it has affected and continues to affect his life. He experiences many symptoms of ASD including impaired social skills, difficulty understanding feelings, repetitive behaviors, restricted interests, and a preference for solitude, to name a few. This year instead of receiving gifts for my birthday, I am asking for donations to Autism Speaks. They are an organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals affected by autism through advocacy and support; increasing understanding and acceptance of people who experience Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as putting money towards advancing research on ASD to find causes in order to create better treatment plans for those who experience Autism Spectrum Disorder.
