Gregory D. Lutz

Transplant Type: Liver

Gregory Lutz has a new lease on life. In April, he became very ill and was admitted to the hospital. At that time, he was diagnosed with cryptogenic cirrhosis. His diagnosis was shocking for him and his family and baffling for his doctors, as they do not know why it happened. Gregory quickly went into complete liver failure, and doctors said a transplant was critical to his survival. Thankfully, Gregory received a liver transplant on May 18, 2019!

Gregory is thankful for the love and support of his wife, Penny, and their family and friends. Gregory and Penny have one daughter, Amanda, who is in college, and they are a very tightly knit family. Gregory’s illness has been difficult for his wife and daughter and causes them a lot of worry. He looks forward to recovering from his transplant so that he can return to the activities he enjoys, like playing mandolin and guitar in a Southern gospel group, attending church, and being active with his family. Gregory is thankful for his second chance at life and looks forward to things returning to normal and feeling like himself again. But right now, he needs your help.

The average liver transplant costs more than $740,000, and that’s only the beginning. Gregory’s insurance only covered a small portion of the transplant costs, and he faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he needs follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Gregory. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the NFT Mississippi Transplant Fund, 3249 W. Sarazens Circle, Suite 100. Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Gregory Lutz” on the memo line.

Thank you for your generosity!
